I’m taking a detour for the summer. Theatre is taking a hiatus but never fear because my opinion is still going strong!

I scheduled “Pretty Little Liars” after hearing from E! News it was definitely one to watch. Boy, were they right!

“Pretty Little Liars”, based on the bestselling books by Sara Shepard tells the story of five high school friends: Aria, Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Allison. It opens with a stormy sleepover in a barn in Rosewood, Penn. A creaking door, thunder, rain are the ingredients to a nail-biting opener. Allison leaves the barn and Spencer goes out to look for her to no avail. Allison ends up on the missing person’s list.

The story unfolds some of the other four girls’ secrets. Aria has hots for her English teacher; Hanna is caught shoplifting sunglasses (a ploy to get her absent father’s attention?); Spencer is crushing on her sister’s British boyfriend; Emily shares a surprising quick peck with a girl.

Throughout the show, Allison mysteriously remains in contact with the four girls, revealing their secrets one text at a time. “Pretty Little Liars” is a suspenseful must-see. It’ll keep you glued to the screen and wanting more way after the credits roll.

“Pretty Little Liars” airs on ABC Family (TV 14) on Tuesdays at 9pm.
